RDH Building Science’s Façade Engineering Division sees the envelope as the face of a building, the manifestation of the project’s goals and the public expression of an architect’s vision. Their technical expertise ensures a balance between buildability and cost through innovative solutions with cladding, curtainwall, glass, stone, masonry, or other materials. One of their recent façade engineering projects is the Bullitt Center in Seattle, the first commercial office structure to meet the International Living Futures Institute's Living Building Challenge: self-sufficient for energy and water, pedestrian-, bike- and transit friendly. The Bullitt Centre draws all its power from the sunlight falling on the roof and all its water from rainfall on the site.
