Faculty Resources for Teaching Remotely

Information Technology Services (ITS), the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTLT), and the CAED Tech Team are working closely to ensure the successful transition to virtual classes for the Spring Quarter. The following links will help you to navigate the resources available to you, as well as offer you valuable information and guidelines to prepare your classes accordingly:

In addition, Information Technology Services offers the following resources to help faculty transition to a remote workplace:
Zoom
Zoom is a video and web conferencing tool available to students, faculty, and staff. Faculty using this for remote teaching are encouraged to download Zoom for desktop and/or mobile as there is some increased functionality. Please see the following to help support remote teaching:
- Getting Started
- Using a document camera with Zoom (you don’t need to install the camera software)
- Preventing online harassment ("Zoombombing")
- Recording lectures with automated transcription
- Managing Participants including Raising Hands
- White Board and Annotation Tools
- Chat Window for questions
- Live Polls
- Using Breakout Rooms for small group discussion
- Pre-assigning Zoom breakout rooms
Learning Management Systems
PolyLearn
(Important: PolyLearn is transitioning to Canvas over the Summer and will not be available in the Fall. Click HERE for details of the change and how to back up your PolyLearn courses for importing into Canvas)
Canvas
Faculty may choose to transition to Canvas at this time. Canvas has Zoom integration and other tools to support remote learning. There are numerous resources to get started with Canvas:
